The December 11, 2011 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta began with Kim and Kroy going to her obstetrician to find out if he needed to induce labor. They argued in the car because Kim felt that Kroy wasn't taking her worries about the pregnancy seriously.
Cynthia's New York Trip
Cynthia prepared to leave on a trip to New York. She was planning to meet Russell Simmons for business advice. She spoke about dating Simmons when she was 18, and her husband Peter cautioned her against wearing a particularly potent perfume when she met him.
Sheree showed her mother the site of her future house and told her about the problems she was having getting Bob to pay child support. Her mother had a similar experience with Sheree's father, who only visited once a year and broke a promise to get Sheree the Speak & Spell toy she wanted for Christmas. She told Sheree she didn't want the same situation with her children and encourage her to take Bob to court.
NeNe accompanied Cynthia to New York and was worried by the “huge bugs” she saw in their lavish studio apartment. She said she was meeting with her business partner John and told Cynthia he had been flirting with her. Cynthia said she would have to “fight him off with a stick” since he was Italian, then told her about her lunch plans with Simmons.
Phaedra In Court
Back in Atlanta, Phaedra went to court to represent a client facing a marijuana possession charge. The judge was willing to give him a second chance based on Phaedra taking him on as a client and put him on probation. When they left the courtroom, he paid her with a large roll of bills stashed in his car, suggesting his involvement with drugs with deeper than he let on.
When Cynthia met with Simmons, he talked a mile a minute as they got into a conversation about whether he cheated on her. (She described him as a “crazy multitasker”). She told him about her modeling school as his assistant stacked copies of his book. He suggested it should be an “entertaining finishing school” because models had “the lowest job on the f---ing totem pole.”
Kim's Preparations for Induced Labor
Kroy attended to Kim at the hospital as the nurse asked her about her medical history. She worried about whether the epidural would work and argued with Kroy about whether a diet lemonade qualified as a clear drink.
Kandi prepared to do a photoshoot for her mother's profile on a dating site for “sexy single seniors”. She had problems fitting into her girdle and decided she looked like “a drag queen” in her dress and makeup. Both cracked up laughing as she posed on the hood of a Camaro.
Sheree was surprised when she found Bob had served her papers for modification of child support. She told her mother it was because he was bitter towards her, and she once again encouraged Sheree to take action.
NeNe's Flirty Business Partner
NeNe met John at one of his restaurants, Valentino's, to discuss her lounge concept. He seemed more interested in flirting with her than discussing business. She was clearly unimpressed by his sense of humor and the way he “poured it on so thick”.
She said she was rusty on the rules of dating but that John needed to pick up on some of the rules himself. He gave her a pen, and she said it was a very thoughtful gesture. They went outside for dessert, where an old friend sang an aria for her. John told her he hadn't sung in nine years and did it as a favor to him.
Cynthia in New York
Cynthia was astonished to find her friend Kite had lost 82 pounds. He asked her how she fit in in Atlanta because her social circles were so different from what she knew in New York. She said the materialism of the Atlanta women wasn't her. He told her she needed to find a way to get back to being happy again and wondered if she was “going through the motions” and pretending to make progress in her marriage. She insisted that she believed in Peter and was confident they would be all right.
Kim Gave Birth
Kim's daughters and her assistant Sweetie arrived at the hospital. She said she wasn't able to read Kroy's emotions and Brielle said he was panicking inside. Kim told the nurse the contractions were rough. Sweetie took the girls to eat so Kim could be free with her emotions (and language).
When it was all over, Kim was holding her baby boy in her arms. She named him after Kroy and said he weight exactly 8 pounds. She said that she felt "complete" for the first time in her life.
